LINCOLN, Neb — Nebraska will face off against BYU in an exhibition basketball game at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Saturday at 12:01 p.m. The matchup marks the first of two exhibition games for Nebraska before the regular season opener against West Georgia on Nov. 3. Nebraska, coming off a 21-14 season and a College Basketball Crown victory, features a mix of returning players and newcomers.

Senior guard Jamarques Lawrence returns to Nebraska after a season at Rhode Island, where he averaged 9.9 points and 2.5 assists per game. Rienk Mast, a key player for Nebraska, is back after missing last season due to knee surgery. Mast was a third-team All-Big Ten performer two years ago, averaging 12.3 points and leading the team in rebounds and assists.

BYU enters the game ranked eighth in the preseason AP poll, following a 26-10 season that ended in the NCAA Sweet 16. The Cougars are led by All-Big Ten guard Richie Saunders and have added top recruit AJ Dybantsa and Baylor transfer Robert Wright III.

Nebraska has a strong exhibition history, with a 64-7 all-time record and a 33-2 record since 2001. The game against BYU is the first against a power conference team since 2022. Nebraska will also play an exhibition game against Midland on Oct. 27.
