The New York Knicks acquired Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves in a trade that sent Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo and a protected first-round draft pick to Minnesota.
Karl-Anthony Towns has averaged 24.4 points, 12.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 72 games for the New York Knicks in his career. He was selected to play in his fifth All-Star game last season.
Towns and the Knicks made a deep run during the 2025 NBA Playoffs but they were eliminated in the Eastern Conference Finals by the Indiana Pacers.
Towns will try to get the Knicks over the top this season as New York is one of the favorites in the Eastern Conference.

Towns reflected on the trade from the Timberwolves on The Young Man and The Three podcast.
He also talked about what makes his former teammate Anthony Edwards so special.
Edwards has become a rising superstar in the league, leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to back-to-back appearances in the Western Conference Finals.
“I get so proud when I see him doing well. I feel like a proud big brother.”
“His charisma and stuff is what gets people to lean in and hear what he has to say.
“It’s his want to be great that keeps people in his ecosystem. It’s one thing to attract fans, it’s one thing to keep fans.
“He’s doing that through his play. His play is what is keeping fans there.
“His charisma and who he is, is what makes fans give him a chance just to watch him do his art.”
Karl-Anthony Towns and the New York Knicks get set for 2025-26 NBA season
The Knicks will open up their season on October 22 against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
This could be a very early preview of the Eastern Conference Finals as both teams have championship or bust expectations for this season.
The Knicks were able to get some nice depth pieces this offseason, but the sudden retirement of Malcolm Brogdon was a big loss for them right before the start of the season.
Jalen Brunson, Towns and the rest of the Knicks starting five will once again be under a lot of pressure to deliver.
