Sixers center Joel Embiid has been cleared and is available to play in Friday’s preseason finale for the Philadelphia Sixers against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
It will be the first time Embiid appears in a preseason game since 2023.

Embiid’s appearance in the team’s blue and white scrimmage on Sunday had people wondering if a preseason appearance would happen.
Embiid’s Return Signals Readiness for Opener
Sixers coach Nick Nurse said there was “some chance” that Embiid would play, and now it has been confirmed that he will. With this news, it appears Embiid will play in the season opener against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night (on 97.3 ESPN).
The 2023 NBA MVP appeared in just 19 games for the 76ers last season, needing another surgery during the offseason on his ailing left knee.
No Paul George
While Embiid will play in the game, teammate Paul George will not, and is expected to miss opening night against Boston on Wednesday, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania on Thursday.
George underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee in July.
Sixers Preseason Finale
The Sixers will host the T’Wolves on Friday at 7 p.m.. The game will be heard on Rock 104.1.
