Dallas is getting a new card shop backed by an NFL legend this week – and it’s near one of the city’s premiere sports venues.

CardVault by Tom Brady is set to launch a new store close to the entrance of American Airlines Center, home of the Dallas Stars and the Dallas Mavericks. The shop officially opens on Thursday.

This is just the eighth store for the Boston-based company and is part of a nationwide rollout, according to Chris Costa, co-founder of CardVault by Tom Brady. The other locations include spots in New York, Boston, Connecticut and Chicago.

Dallas has the potential to be one of its top-performing markets, Costa said. The city is known for its passion for sports along with sports cards and memorabilia, helping make it a good spot for the next shop, and the presence North Texas pro teams, including the Cowboys.

“A lot of thought and a lot of care goes into the decisions on where we go, when we go, why we go, how we go,” Costa said in an interview.

“A lot of things align here. You have an amazing fan base; you have a ton of collectors, and you have relevant teams … and relevant teams with relevant players.”

The shop — located at 3030 Nowitzki Way, Suite 103 — will feature displays that honor Dallas’s sports figures, including Cooper Flagg, Tony Romo and Kyrie Irving. The store, like the others, is designed to be inviting and provide an “elevated” experience, Costa said.

Yet it is still very much the full hobby shop where shoppers can get the latest releases from the main manufacturers and price points that range from around $1 to around $20,000, Costa said.

That includes sports cards and authenticated memorabilia, along with trading cards, such as Pokemon and Magic.

The lineup of sports cards and memorabilia will be more focused on North Texas.

“We like to think about our inventory as curated towards the market that we’re in … but still serving kind of the broader market,” Costa said.

“You’ll definitely see a heavier emphasis on the Stars and the Rangers and the Cowboys and the Mavericks here in Dallas, but you’ll still be able to find the Lebron James and, you know, the Lakers and the Patriots and the Bruins.”

Tom Brady took a 50% stake in CardVault, according to a statement in February ― hence his name on the shingle.

The new store, where Cooper Flagg will attend the grand opening, is open seven days a week. It will remain open during all home games and major events at the American Airlines Center, according to the company.

“What we’re trying to do … is bring the hobby to the fan and turn the fan into a collector,” Costa said. “Well, there’s not really many better places to do that than outside of the arena that houses, you know, two .. perennial contending professional teams, and in a city and in a region where … there’s so much focus and and love for their teams and their sports.”
