DETROIT – Detroit Pistons shooting guard Jaden Ivey has undergone an arthroscopic knee procedure and will be re-evaluated in four weeks.
The Pistons announced that Ivey would miss the start of the regular season on Thursday (Oct. 16).
The procedure and discomfort were unrelated to the fibula injury he suffered during the 2024 season.
Ivey played in 30 games during the 2023-24 season, missing out on the magical season the Pistons went on to go 44-38 while making the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
It was a major turnaround from the 2023 season when they set a league-worst and franchise-worst 14-68 record.
Ivey got injured on Jan. 1, 2025, when he suffered a broken left fibula and was out four to six months following surgery.
Going into the 2025-26 season, Ivey is entering his contract season.
Ivey has played 181 total games in his young career due to injuries. He started in 164 of those games, but the chemistry with him and All-Star guard Cade Cunningham has been a major question.
He has averaged 17.6 points while shooting 42% from the field and 35% from the three-point line, while grabbing 4.1 rebounds and four assists per game.
The Ivey-less Pistons kick off their season on the road when they’ll take on the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, at 8 p.m.
