NBA star Luka Doncic is set to enter his first full season with the Los Angeles Lakers after his mid-season trade from the Dallas Mavericks in 2024-25. He’s coming off a season in which he averaged 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 7.7 assists and 1.8 steals in 50 games between Dallas and L.A.

The five-time All-Star focused on his conditioning during the offseason, with his change in physique being clearly evident. Doncic also played for Slovenia during the 2025 EuroBasket, ensuring that he’s in game shape for the start of the new NBA campaign.

The 2024 NBA scoring champion made his preseason debut for the Lakers against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, although he missed their showdown with the Mavs on Wednesday to rest.

Fortunately for L.A. fans, Doncic suited up for their Friday clash with the Sacramento Kings at Crypto.com Arena in their final preseason game.

Doncic impressed once again despite the 117-116 loss, recording 31 points, five rebounds and nine assists.

The 2025-26 season officially kicks off next Tuesday, with the Lakers set to play the Golden State Warriors in the opener. That being said, fans should have plenty of opportunities to see more of Doncic as he tries to lead the Purple and Gold in the absence of LeBron James.
