To commemorate the players who played for the Nets over the decades wearing those 52 different jersey numbers, Nets Wire is covering the entire history of the franchise’s jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team.
And for today’s article, we will continue with the seventh of eight people to wear the No. 27 jersey, big man alum Johan Petro. After starting his pro career abroad, Petro was picked up with the 25th overall selection of the 2005 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics.
The Paris, France native would play parts of the first four seasons of his pro career with Seattle, coming to an end when he was dealt to the Denver Nuggets in 2009. He signed with New Jersey in 2010, and his stay spanned two seasons, coming to an end when he was dealt to the Atlanta Hawks in 2012.
During his time suiting up for the Nets, Petro wore only jersey No. 27 and put up 3.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.
