Former Maryland Terrapins center Derik Queen has been cleared to resume full basketball activities, the New Orleans Pelicans announced on Saturday.

Queen, who was selected 13th overall in the NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks – then traded to the Pelicans, tore a ligament in his left wrist in a NBA Summer League game. He underwent surgery on July 18th and is now medically cleared to begin his rookie season with New Orleans.

Queen averaged 16.5 points, 9 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 blocks per game as a freshman at Maryland, leading the team to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 in 2025.
