Northwest Ohio native Terry Wymer spent 38 years as an official, primarily in the Big Ten conference.
NORTH BALTIMORE, Ohio — Three years after retiring from a long and distinguished career as a college basketball referee, North Baltimore native Terry Wymer has passed away, according to the Big Ten conference.
Wymer primarily worked Big Ten conference games over his 38-year career. Wymer also officiated in 22 straight NCAA tournaments, 11 regionals, five Final Fours and three national title games.
Wymer was most recently the Executive Director of Collegiate Officiating Consortium and Coordinator of Officials for the Big Ten and Mountain West Conferences.
He was responsible for recruiting, selecting, developing, evaluating and assigning officials for all men’s basketball games in the Big Ten in addition to overseeing assignments in a number of other conferences including the MAC.
Before becoming a basketball official, Wymer was a member of the Findlay 1979 NAIA Division II national championship football team and also played baseball for the school.
