Memphis Grizzlies guard Ty Jerome injured his right calf on Oct. 17 in a road preseason game against the Miami Heat at the Kaseya Center. Jerome was favoring his right leg before the Grizzlies called a timeout to assist him off the floor and to the locker room with 7:52 left in the first quarter.

Jerome first started limping with 8:13 left in the first quarter after being fouled on a drive to the basket. While trying to gut through the injury he missed two free throws and participated in the ensuing defensive possession.

While guarding the ball, a limping Jerome reached for a steal, then fell to the floor while favoring his right leg.

Jerome did not return to preseason action against the Heat after officially being ruled out with a right calf injury.

The Grizzlies’ point guard depth is being tested. Memphis is currently without point guards Scotty Pippen Jr. (toe soreness) and Ja Morant (left ankle sprain).

Memphis begins regular season action on Oct. 17 against the New Orleans Pelicans.
