The Golden State Warriors announced they signed Seth Curry on Oct. 1 to a short, non-guaranteed deal that NBA insider Marc Stein described as an Exhibit-9/one-year arrangement intended for training camp and roster flexibility.

That signing reunited Seth with his older brother Steph Curry for the first time as teammates in the NBA.

While fans were quick to get excited over the pairing, the team announced an unfortunate update on Saturday.

Senior NBA reporter Chris Haynes posted that the Warriors had officially waived Seth — a roster move that comes less than a week before Golden State opens the 2025-26 season on the road against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Seth, 35, has been a veteran journeyman since going undrafted in 2013. Over 550 NBA games, he’s averaged 10.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 22.5 minutes per game for his career and built a reputation as one of the league’s purest shooters (career 43.3% 3-point rate).

He spent last season with the Charlotte Hornets, posting modest averages of 6.5 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 15.6 minutes across 68 games (14 starts).

Thankfully for the brothers, Seth’s absence is expected to be short-term, with reports indicating the move was required due to their salary cap situation, and the team plans on re-signing him when prorated salary timing permits — news that likely made Saturday’s roster move a little easier for Steph to stomach.

Meanwhile, Steph remains the franchise centerpiece. An 11-time All-Star, 11-time All-NBA honoree, four-time NBA champion and two-time league MVP, Steph has rewritten the modern game with his elite shooting, ranking first all-time in career 3-pointers made (4,058).

Golden State opens the 2025-26 NBA season next week as they travel to Crypto.com Arena for a duel with the Lakers. Star LeBron James will miss the start of the season due to injury, while the Warriors enter at full strength with Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler all expected to play.

How the front office handles Seth’s roster status in the coming weeks will be watched closely.
