The Philadelphia 76ers appear to be getting a certain big man back on the floor in Friday’s preseason finale against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

After missing the team’s first three exhibition games as he continues to work his way back from another knee surgery, Joel Embiid has reportedly been cleared to return to action against the Timberwolves. The big fella has not played since Feb. 22 against the Brooklyn Nets. He had a tough outing that game as he clearly was not the same and he was then ruled out for the rest of the season before undergoing surgery in April.

However, it appears now that he is set to return to the floor on Friday.

This doesn’t necessarily mean Embiid is definitely going to play against the Timberwolves. Just because he’s cleared doesn’t mean he’s going to give it a go, but this is a big step for both Embiid and the Sixers. If he doesn’t play against Minnesota, he will likely play in the opener on Oct. 22 against the Boston Celtics on the road.
