The Boston Celtics are 3-1 throughout their preseason schedule. Joe Mazzulla’s team is now preparing to face the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday, Oct. 22, in what will be the opening game of their 2025-26 campaign. Throughout Boston’s preseason games, one thing became abundantly clear: the Celtics may have suffered a talent drain this summer, but they may still emerge as a better roster than many of us expected.
Multiple members of the Celtics’ “unproven” contingent put in a string of good performances. Josh Minott shone and has the making of a genuine fan-favorite, while Xavier Tillman Sr. reminded the fan base why he’s on the roster, and Hugo Gonzalez flashed the defensive instincts that could anchor him into Mazzulla’s second unit rotation throughout his rookie season.
With so many exciting young players on the roster, and the Celtics playing a fast, up-tempo and gritty style of game, there’s a chance they could become a problematic team to face. The “D Flow Hoops” YouTube channel recently explored this thought process in greater detail, as the host dissected the Celtics’ preseason performances and broke down why the team could be far better than any of us expected during the summer.
