Before the season officially gets underway on Tuesday, the Golden State Warriors had to trim their roster down for the opening day of the regular season. On the final day of cuts, one of Golden State’s headline free agent signings was one of the players waived.

Along with rookie guard L.J. Cryer, veteran shooter Seth Curry was waived by the Warriors on Saturday. Despite being waived, Curry is expected to return to the Warriors shortly.

According to multiple reports, the Warriors have the intention of re-signing Curry in November when they have the available cap space.

According to Bobby Marks of ESPN, the Warriors can re-sign Curry on Nov. 11. If the Warriors re-sign Curry in November when they have the opportunity, he will miss 11 games to start the season.

Curry has spent 11 seasons in the NBA, averaging 10 points on 47.1% shooting from the field and 43.3% from beyond the arc to go along with two rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest.

Curry spent the last two seasons with the Charlotte Hornets. In 76 games with the Hornets, Curry averaged 6.8 points on 47.3% shooting from the floor and 43.8% shooting from deep. Curry made 92 3-pointers over the last two seasons with the Warriors. Curry led the NBA in 3-point shooting percentage last season with a mark of 45.6%.

When Curry returns, he will compete for a spot in Golden State’s backcourt rotation alongside Brandin Podziemski, Buddy Hield, Gary Payton II and Will Richard.
