The 2025-26 NBA season is close to returning and there’s a new leader in the clubhouse when it comes to career earnings after Kevin Durant just received a monster extension over the weekend from the Houston Rockets.

Durant agreed to turn down more money this offseason when he left the Phoenix Suns and decided to take on a new challenge in the Western Conference, and after receiving a new two-year, $90 million extension he has become the highest-earning NBA player in league history.
Durant’s career earnings are just shy of $600 million, which tops Lebron James’ $581 million from his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat. Durant
Overall, there are seven players that have amassed $500 million or more throughout their professional careers, including Steph Curry, Devon Booker, Paul George, Anthony Davis and Joel Embiid.
