NOPE, same day. My bad, everyone.

Anyway, we don’t have much to talk about in terms of how the AP poll affects YOUR Marquette Golden Eagles. Cara Consuegra’s second season in charge will feature just three games against team in the preseason rankings, and you already guessed what two of those three are. Yep, the home/home series in Big East play with UConn is responsible there, as the Huskies start the year at #1 in the country, fresh off their national championship last spring.

Marquette’s only other preseason ranked opponent? Iowa State, which comes in at #14 here. Marquette will see the Cyclones — and former Golden Eagles Kenzie Hare! — in the Coconut Hoops event down in Fort Myers, Florida, on Thanksgiving weekend.

There is one team on the schedule that landed in the Receiving Votes department. That’s Minnesota, and the Golden Gophers picked up 15 points worth of votes to be the unofficial #30 team in the country, or at least tied with Kansas State for that honor. Marquette visits Minnesota on Tuesday, November 11th, for their third game of the season, so if the Gophs hold up their end of the bargain against North Dakota and Manhattan in their first two games, MU could have a shot at earning a little bit of national attention in the second week of the season.

Marquette officially starts the season on Monday, November 3rd, with a matinee start against Winthrop. Tipoff is scheduled for 11am, and ESPN+ will have the streaming broadcast. I presume that’s a Milwaukee Public Schools game, given the start time.
