Johnny Dawkins returns to Cameron Indoor Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 21 when Duke basketball hosts UCF in an exhibition game as part of the Brotherhood Run (7 p.m. ET, ACC Network Extra).
It is the first of two exhibition games for fourth-year head coach Jon Scheyer and the Blue Devils ahead of the 2025-26 season. Duke also plays an exhibition at Tennessee on Sunday, Oct. 26, before officially tipping its season off on Nov. 4 against Texas at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte.
Dawkins, a former Duke All-American who played under coach Mike Krzyzewski from 1982-1986, finished his Duke career as the all-time leading scorer with 2,556 points with his No. 24Â hanging in the rafters at Cameron Indoor Stadium. He will be bringing the Knights to Durham for the first time but it marks the second meeting between the two programs after No. 1-seeded Duke took down UCF 77-76 in the second round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
Duke also plays Brotherhood Run games against coach Greg Paulus and Niagara on Friday, Nov. 21, and coach Kenny Blakeney and Howard on Sunday, Nov. 23.
Duke returns six members from its Final Four team in 2025-26 while bringing in the nation’s top-rated recruiting class for the second-straight season and two transfer portal additions. The Blue Devils are a preseason favorite to repeat as ACC champions.
