The Mavericks open their season at home against the Spurs on Wednesday night, and that means another season of Mavericks betting is coming your way. It is a delicious first outing to gamble on, as Cooper Flagg is making his NBA debut against Victor Wembanyama. This comes a night after the Rockets trotted out a two-big, no-guard lineup, one very similar to the Mavericks starters tonight. If that game against the Thunder was any indication of what this game will be, we are in for an ugly, hard-fought treat.

I like Cooper more than most, but it’s tough to go for a bunch of points in your debut. As for Anthony Davis, are we sure he’ll shoot threes? I’m not. I also will take the spurs getting a couple points, as I’m not convinced the Mavs are better than San Antonio. Lastly, Dereck Lively has owned Wembanyama in the past and I expect that to continue here
This is going to be a rock fight. As stated in the intro, I think this will be very similar to the Houston-Oklahoma City contest last night, where only 208 points were scored in regulation. Wembanyama is going to stretch the Mavericks’ defense to the point where he may take 10 threes. Davis has dominated the matchup with Wembanyama, averaging north of 30 points in five contests. Because Davis will be on the perimeter a lot, Flagg should have a lot of rebound chances tonight.
