The Miami Heat face the Orlando Magic tonight at the Kia Center in Orlando in the 2025–26 regular-season opener between two in-state rivals.
Miami returns with a mix of experience and youth, anchored by Bam Adebayo and strengthened by offseason additions Norman Powell and Simone Fontecchio. With Tyler Herro sidelined until later this year, Adebayo will be counted on to carry much of the offensive and leadership load early on.
Orlando, meanwhile, enters with momentum after finishing 41–41 last season and pushing the Boston Celtics to the brink in the first round of the playoffs. The young tandem of Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner continues to develop into one of the East’s most dynamic duos.
The addition of Desmond Bane in the offseason brings much-needed perimeter shooting and playmaking depth — potentially turning the Magic into a real threat to their Eastern Conference rivals.
Predictions
Both teams defend at a high level, setting up a physical, low-scoring opener. Orlando’s depth and home crowd give them the edge, but Miami’s discipline under Erik Spoelstra will keep it close.
Prediction: Magic 109, Heat 99
