The Utah Jazz (1-0) visit the Sacramento Kings (0-2) tonight in an opening week meeting at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.
Utah enters off a dominant 129–108 win over the Los Angeles Clippers, where Walker Kessler, Lauri Markkanen, and Keyonte George all stood out.
Kessler was exceptional, finishing with 22 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 blocks, while Markkanen and Brice Sensabaugh added 20 points each.
George added 16 points and 9 assists, helping Utah build a 37-point lead at one stage — a statement of how well their young core is meshing early. Their defense also looked cohesive, anchored by Kessler’s rim protection and improved rebounding structure.
The Jazz shot 55% from the field and totaled 38 assists, a sign of improved chemistry and fluid ball movement. Tonight will be a test of whether that translates on the road.
Sacramento, meanwhile, opened its season with a tough 120–116 loss after blowing a 17-point halftime lead against the Phoenix Suns. The Kings struggled to maintain defensive pressure and were out-rebounded in the second half, though their offense showed promise.
Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan combined for 59 points in their first game together, and now the return of Domantas Sabonis gives Sacramento its full starting frontcourt.
Sabonis, who averaged 19.1 points, 13.9 rebounds, and 6.0 assists last season, should provide a major boost to their rebounding and half-court offense, allowing the Kings to better match Utah’s interior strength.
Predictions
With Sabonis back, Sacramento’s offense becomes far more balanced and dangerous. The Kings will reestablish tempo and defensive focus at home, securing the win.
Prediction: Kings 114, Jazz 110
