2024-25 season series: Indiana won 2-0

Indiana was dominated 128-103 by the Memphis Grizzlies Saturday while failing to cover as a 2-point underdog as the Under (240.5) hit. The Pacers forced just 6 turnovers while giving up a whopping 56 points in the paint. F Bennedict Mathurin played well as he scored 26 points on 8-of-12 shooting, but only 3 other players scored in double-figures, none over 15 points.

Minnesota lost 128-110 to the Los Angeles Lakers Friday while failing to cover as a 1.5-point favorite with the Over (225.5) hit. G Anthony Edwards dropped 31 points while being helped out with 26 from F Julius Randle, but the duo simple couldn’t do enough to outmatch Luka Doncic and his 49-point, 11-rebound, 8-assist game.

Pacers at Timberwolves picks and predictionsPrediction

Timberwolves 124, Pacers 111

PASS.

The Wolves are the much better team here with all of Indiana’s injuries, and because of those injuries the Pacers will have little to no reliable guard play in this game, making it easy for the Timberwolves to cover here as -700 favorites. However, a team favored this heavily is never worth the risk of betting on. Bet on the spread and/or total instead.

LEAN TIMBERWOLVES -12.5 (-110).

This is one of the worst matchups for a Pacers team missing both of its lead guards as well as its main backup guard. Minnesota is already a defensive powerhouse, so now that the Wolves can really key in defensively on just a few guys. This will be a comfortable win for Minnesota. On the other side, the Pacers still have bodies to throw at Edwards, but they don’t have enough to stop this Wolves team as a whole here.

This is a lean because the Pacers have good leadership and are never an easy team to blow out.

BET OVER 228.5 (-110).

Indiana’s defense has been terrible to start the season, letting up at least 128 points in each of its first 2 games. On the other side, Minnesota has looked solid on both sides of the ball, but look for its offense to shine here against this terrible Indiana defense. Also, the Over is 3-1 for these squads this season and is 2-1 in the last 3 matchups between these foes in Minnesota.
