The Brooklyn Nets (0-2) visit the San Antonio Spurs (2-0) this afternoon at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, opening a nine-game Sunday NBA slate.

Brooklyn has started the 2025–26 season winless, allowing over 130 points per game and struggling on the defensive glass. Despite that, the Nets’ offense hasn’t been the issue. They’re averaging 120.5 points per game and shooting a solid 47.8% from the field and 42.5% from three.

Cam Thomas (24.0 PPG, 5.5 APG) and Michael Porter Jr. (21.0 PPG, 6.0 RPG) have provided consistent scoring. Nic Claxton (13.5 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 3.0 APG) has been effective inside, and rookie Egor Demin has impressed (11.5 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 3.0 APG) in his first two games.

San Antonio, meanwhile, looks energized behind a sensational start from Victor Wembanyama, who’s averaging 34.5 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 6.0 blocks through two games while shooting 63.6% from the floor. His dominance on both ends has instantly elevated the Spurs from a rebuilding project to one of the league’s early-season surprises.

Second-year guard Stephon Castle (21.0 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 6.0 APG) has complemented Wembanyama perfectly, controlling tempo and distributing with maturity. The Spurs have averaged 122.5 points per game while holding opponents under 110 — a rare balance of offense and defense for such a young roster.

Predictions

The Spurs’ defensive consistency and home advantage give them a meaningful edge, while Brooklyn’s offense might keep it within reach but likely won’t be enough.

Prediction: Spurs 119, Nets 105
