Fans of the Boston Celtics have been clamoring for more playing time for rookie forward Hugo Gonzalez after seeing what a whirlwind of frenetic energy the Madrid native can be on both ends of the court, and for good reason. Gonzalez comes to Boston a seasoned professional compared to most rookies given his previous time spent playing for Real Madrid in the Liga ACB and Euroleague.
That prior time playing behind a number of veteran players — many of whom had previously played in the NBA — prepared Boston’s 2025 first round pick to be a meaningful contributor almost from the moment he arrived in the states.
