The undefeated New York Knicks (2-0) visit the Miami Heat (1-1) tonight at Kaseya Center in Miami in their first road game of the season.
The New York offense is clicking under Mike Brown’s new dynamic system, opening with wins over the Cleveland Cavaliers (119–111) and the Boston Celtics (105–95).
Jalen Brunson is averaging 27.0 points through two games — 23 in the opener and 31 in the win over Boston — while Karl-Anthony Towns has delivered back-to-back double-doubles, posting 19 points and 11 rebounds against Cleveland and 26 and 13 against the Celtics.
OG Anunoby anchored the opener with 24 points and 14 boards and helped key a 42–14 second-quarter surge that buried Boston. The mix of spacing and tempo under Brown has created cleaner looks across the floor. New York also hasn’t compromised its defense under Brown. It ranks atop the NBA, holding opponents to just 103.0 points per game.
Miami, meanwhile, sits at 1–1 after a 146–114 blowout win over Memphis that followed a 125–121 loss at Orlando. The Heat are averaging 133.5 points per game behind a balanced attack led by Bam Adebayo, who scored 24 against the Grizzlies — 18 in the first quarter alone.
Kel’el Ware replaced Nikola Jović in the starting lineup versus Memphis and responded with 19 points and nine rebounds on 8-of-12 shooting, while Jović also impressed with 20 points, six rebounds, and four assists off the bench. The move injected length and rim protection alongside Adebayo, giving Miami a front-court look that overwhelmed the Grizzlies.
The Heat will be without Terry Rozier, who is dealing with off-the-court issues that are much bigger than basketball.
Predictions
Expect a tight, physical game where New York’s defense is tested by Miami’s pace. But the edge goes to the Knicks, who are deeper and excel on both ends of the court.
Prediction: Knicks 118, Heat 110
