Former Wisconsin basketball center Steven Crowl has a workout scheduled with the Golden State Warriors next week, according to longtime basketball writer Gery Woelfel.

Crowl recently concluded his five-year Wisconsin career. He appeared in 153 total games during that time, starting 141. Those appearances included per-game averages of 9.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and two assists, plus shooting totals of 52.5% from the field, 36.3% from 3 and 82% from the free-throw line.

Arguably, the best season of the center’s college career came as a junior in 2022-23: 12.1 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, plus shooting rates of 51% from the floor and 31% from 3. While his numbers dropped in each of the following seasons, that can be partially attributed to the program’s shift in offensive philosophy, as well as to A.J. Storr and John Tonje’s respective emergences.

Crowl was a key contributor on the Badgers’ strong 2024-25 team, starting all 37 games and averaging 9.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 54% from the field, 41% from 3 and 82% from the free-throw line. That 3-point shooting rate marked a major step forward from his early-career numbers. Projecting forward, it headlines his profile entering the professional level.

Crowl is not predicted to be selected during the upcoming NBA draft or signed as an undrafted free agent. His most likely path to a professional career is overseas, as has been the case for numerous Wisconsin standouts over the last decade.

However, the center will reportedly get an opportunity to showcase his ability in front of interested NBA decision-makers. Time will tell if that workout opens any further doors at the NBA level.
