Cleveland Cavaliers wing Sam Merrill suffered an apparent injury during Monday’s game against the Detroit Pistons.
During the third quarter, Merrill squatted down during a timeout and seemed to be in pain. He headed back to the locker room with the team’s head athletic trainer and has not yet returned. He doesn’t have an official injury designation at this time.

Merrill played 18 minutes before heading to the locker room, shooting 4-for-7 from the field and 3-for-6 from three. He scored 11 points, pulled down one rebound, tossed one assist, and logged a pair of steals.
The 6-foot-4 shooter has served as a very reliable floor spacer through the Cavaliers’ first few games with an average of 19.3 points while hitting 51.7% of his three-pointers. Watch for Lonzo Ball as a possible beneficiary with more minutes if Merrill doesn’t return.
