Charlie Cummings breaks down his prediction and pick for Tuesday’s game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Washington Wizards.

A lot of questions surrounded the Philadelphia 76ers going into the season. Health, roster fit, and overall talent were all valid questions about how good this team can be. But so far, so good. After a victory over the Magic on Monday night, the Sixers moved to 3-0 on the season. Now they’ll test themselves against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday in an Eastern Conference showdown.

The 76ers are 4.5-point road favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook. They’re priced at -198 on the Moneyline, while the Wizards are +164 home underdogs. The total for this game is set at 237.5 points. Let’s get into my preview, prediction, and pick for this 76ers vs. Wizards game.

76ers vs. Wizards prediction, preview

It’s been the Tyrese Maxey show so far in Philly. After Monday night’s game, Philadelphia’s star guard is putting up 37 points per game in impressive fashion. The 24-year-old may be taking the superstar leap that many have anticipated. Orlando sure didn’t have a good time handling him on Monday.

But he’s not the only one pulling his weight in Philly. Rookie VJ Edgecombe started off with a wild debut against the Celtics and hasn’t looked back. After putting up 26 points and seven assists against the Magic, their explosive rook is averaging 26 points and six assists through his first three games. Seen more as a raw athlete and defender who would need time to grow offensively, Edgecombe is already growing by leaps and bounds in front of our eyes.

Maxey and Edgecombe aren’t the only young players breaking out in this game. Wizards forward Kyshawn George has been putting up some big games. Washington’s rookie Tre Johnson is lighting it up from deep as well. Though it may be a long season in DC, some promising developmental steps are being taken.

76ers vs. Wizards pick, best bet

I understand why the Sixers aren’t overwhelming favorites in this game. It’s the second night of a back-to-back, and their injury statuses are up in the air, especially Joel Embiid’s after he didn’t play Tuesday night. But even if they can only field the same team they beat Orlando with on Monday, that’s more than enough to take care of Washington on the road.

Best Bet: Philadelphia 76ers -4.5 (-110)
