The Boston Celtics beat up on the New Orleans Pelicans 122-90 at Smoothie King Center on Monday (Oct. 27) night. But even in that evasive first win of the Celtics’ 2025-26 NBA regular season, it was not clearly going to be a victory for Boston until a late burst led by newcomer guard Anfernee Simons put the game out of reach for the Pels for good.
With the victory, the Celtics and their fans can exhale after the tension of losing the first three games of the season slackened some. But there are still some significant structural concerns for this team to overcome. Thankfully, they have a proof of concept to turn to while they try to set themselves up to repeat what went right in the win.
