A UNC basketball guard is on a preseason watch list

We are less than a week away from the start of the 2025-26 college basketball season starting and for the North Carolina Tar Heels, there are high expectations once again. Following a disappointing 2024-25 season and being bounced in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, UNC had to reshape its roster.

That left just one starter from last year’s team to return — Seth Trimble.

The senior enters another season with the program and will have a big role moving forward. As we get set for the upcoming season, Trimble is earning some preseason recognition. On Tuesday, he was one of 20 players named to the watch list for the Jerry West Award.

Each year, the award honors the top shooting guard in college basketball. They name a watch list for the preseason and then will update the list throughout the year, including semifinalists and finalists.

Last season, Trimble averaged 11.6 points, 5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 42.8 percent from the field. Known for his defense, North Carolina hopes he can bring that to the rotation again this season and be a leader as well.

North Carolina opens up their season on Monday, hosting Central Arkansas.
