The Houston Rockets (1-2) visit the Toronto Raptors (1-3) tonight at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto as both teams look to find traction early this season.
Houston could easily have come into tonight undefeated, with both of its losses coming in narrow fashion, including a double-overtime thriller against the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder on opening night.
The Rockets finally broke through on Monday with a dominant 137–109 win over the Brooklyn Nets, where seven players scored in double figures. Houston took advantage of the lopsided matchup to limit the minutes of its starters, with Kevin Durant playing just 25 minutes.
Toronto, meanwhile, has dropped three straight after opening the season with a 138-point explosion against the Atlanta Hawks. The Raptors have showecased one of the league’s most productive offenses early in the season. Their fast-paced attack is powered by a trio of scorers — RJ Barrett, Brandon Ingram, and Scottie Barnes — each averaging over 20 points per game.
But on Monday, Toronto struggled against the San Antonio Spurs’ elite defense, led by the 7′ 4″ Victor Wembanyama, managing just 103 points.
They’ll face another tough test tonight against a physical Houston squad whose front court also has a significant height advantage, with three players standing at 6′ 11″.
Predictions
Houston’s depth, defensive size, and offensive balance give them the upper hand. Toronto’s firepower will keep it close early, but expect the Rockets’ size and bench production to take control down the stretch.
Prediction: Rockets 121, Raptors 110
