The Oklahoma City Thunder plan to spread holiday cheer throughout the community with its 18th annual Holiday Assist Tradition. Nearly three dozen events are scheduled throughout the end of the year.
Jennifer Watson, with the OKC Thunder, stopped by to talk about how the program plans to brighten the spirits of hundreds of Oklahomans.
The Holiday Assist program runs from the start of November through the end of December.
Some of the events in the program include a turkey and grocery giveaway.
“We give over 400 turkey dinners for our clients working with non-profits,” said Watson. “It’s a full turkey dinner with sides and pies.
Watson said another big event they do is a shopping spree for families.
“We’re bringing families into stores and they get to shop for holiday gifts,” she said. “We bring the whole team … it’s probably one of our top ones that people see out there in the community.”
Watson said Thunder players are always eager to be part of the team’s community events.
“We are so lucky to have such amazing players who love to give back to our community. We never have a problem,” she said.
