Philadelphia Sixers guard Jared McCain (right hamstring strain) and forward Paul George have both been back at practice this week, but are still both out for Friday’s NBA Cup matchup against the Boston Celtics.
Sixers Still Without McCain and George vs CelticsWednesday’s injury report
Dominick Barlow Also Out With Elbow Injury
Sixers forward Dominick Barlow will also miss the game with a right elbow laceration suffered in Saturday’s win against Charlotte.
McCain and George have missed the Sixers’ first four games of the season due to injury. McCain sustained the injury prior to the start of Sixers training camp, and George underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in mid-July.
Both players will add more scoring to the team. McCain averaged 15.3 points last season while shooting 38.3 percent from three-point range in 23 games as a rookie. George appeared in 41 games last season, his first in Philadelphia, and averaged 16.2 points, 35.8 percent from three-point range in 32 minutes per game last season.
It will be interesting to see how both players fit in once they return, with Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and Quentin Grimes excelling at guard and Kelly Oubre, Barlow, and guys like Trendon Watford, Jabari Walker getting playing time with George out.
Sixers-Celtics tips off from Xfinity Mobile Arena at 7 p.m. as Philadelphia will look for its second win of the season over Boston and improve to 5-0 on the season.
