Phoenix Suns guard Jalen Green and forward Dillon Brooks remain out with injuries going into the game against the Utah Jazz at Mortgage Matchup Center to begin NBA Cup Group West A play on Friday, Oct. 31.
Suns coach Jordan Ott said Green and Brooks are both “day-to-day” as the Suns (1-4) look to snap a four-game losing skid.
Green has yet to play a game for the Suns in his first year with the team due to a right hamstring strain he initially suffered in training camp heading into Phoenix’s preseason opener Oct. 3 against the Los Angeles Lakers in Palm Desert.
He reaggravated it during the team’s weeklong stay in China where they played two preseason games against the Brooklyn Nets. Green was listed as questionable for Wednesday’s game against Memphis, but he was later downgraded to out. The Grizzlies won the game, 114-113, at Mortgage Matchup Center.
Green didn’t miss a game in each of his last two seasons with the Rockets.
Brooks is now listed as being out with a core muscle strain. He initially was out with a sore right groin before Monday’s game against the Jazz in Salt Lake City. Utah won the game in overtime, 138-134.
Ott said Brooks suffered the injury in last Saturday’s loss at Denver. The core muscle strain is viewed as the same injury as right groin soreness for Brooks. It’s just a more specific diagnosis.
Brooks is averaging a career-high 19.3 points in his three games with the Suns.
The Suns acquired Green, Brooks and the 10th overall pick of the 2025 draft, Khaman Maluach, from the Houston Rockets in the Kevin Durant trade.
