The Philadelphia 76ers will begin NBA Cup play on Friday when they play host the Boston Celtics looking to continue moving in the right direction. The Sixers are 4-0 to begin the season–including a road win over the Celtics on opening night–and will look remain unbeaten.
The Sixers will continue to be a bit short-handed as some key pieces continue to recover from injuries. Jared McCain remains out as he recovers from surgery to repair a torn UCL on his right thumb. One has to believe he is close to a return as he has begun to shoot the basketball after practices and shootarounds a bit.
Paul George will also remain out. He is still recovering from offseason arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and the Sixers want to take it slowly with him. There is no reason to rush George at this point as Philadelphia is winning at the moment and it wants to make sure the 9-time All-Star is fully healthy again.
Dominick Barlow remains out due to a right elbow laceration. He will miss this one and Sunday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets. He will be re-evaluated during the upcoming 3-game road trip.
Tip off with the Celtics is set for 7 p.m. EDT from the Xfinity Mobile Arena on Friday.
