For the second year in a row, Kansas State men’s basketball has lost a player off its roster midway through the season.
On Wednesday, the school announced his exit with a press release.
It was not clear as of press time whether Achor left of his own volition or was dismissed. He played five minutes in K-State’s loss at St. John’s on Saturday, registering two rebounds, two fouls and a turnover with one missed shot.
“Achor and I have decided that there are more important things than basketball for him at this time,” head coach Jerome Tang said in a written statement. “I hope some time away will allow him to reprioritize things in his life and allow him to finish his degree. We wish him well. My focus is always to help young men become the best version of themselves and to help K-State become an elite program. We are developing men who will be great husbands and fathers.”
Achor was averaging 7.3 points and 2.7 rebounds as a Wildcat this season. The 6-foot-9 Australia native transferred in from Samford, where he averaged 16.1 points and 6.1 rebounds last season. Achor was a part of 50 wins, two regular-season Southern Conference championships (2023, 2024) and the school’s first NCAA Tournament appearance in 24 seasons in 2023-24.
Prior to Samford, Achor played at Chipola College in Florida with former Wildcat Nae’Qwan Tomlin. Tomlin also left last year’s team early after getting dismissed. He finished out his college career at Memphis.
K-State is coming off a season where they missed the NCAA Tournament and lost in the opening round of the NIT.
The Wildcats are now 6-3 with losses to LSU, Liberty and St. John’s. They’re 0-3 in games that would be considered a Quad 1 or 2 wins, and 6-0 in Quad 3 and 4 games.
K-State travels to Kansas City next week to play Drake in the Wildcat Classic before traveling down to Wichita to face Wichita State in the final non-conference game of the season.
