NBA Cup Group Play begins tonight, and we’ve got a spooky-good Halloween matchup set between Atlantic Division rivals when the Boston Celtics face the Philadelphia 76ers.
Philadelphia is off to a hot 4-0 start, and my Celtics vs. 76ers predictions expect another win from the home team.

Celtics vs 76ers best bet: 76ers -2 (-110)
Despite multiple key injuries, the Philadelphia 76ers still boast a deeper roster than the Boston Celtics, and I’ll take the home team to win and cover.
Joel Embiid has played well in limited minutes this season, and Philly doesn’t have to lean on him to do it all. He’s appeared in three of four games with no more than 23 minutes in any contest, but he’s still scored at least 20 points in back-to-back games.

Tyrese Maxey is putting together an MVP campaign, as he’s averaging career highs in points (37.5), assists (8.3), and 3-pointers (4.5). The Sixers don’t need to worry about limiting his playing time, and Maxey appears primed for an even bigger breakout.
Philly has gotten tremendous production from rookie VJ Edgecombe (22.3 points per game), while Quentin Grimes and Kelly Oubre Jr. have each averaged 17.8 points. Andre Drummond and Dominick Barlow have played well in the frontcourt, helping to ease Embiid’s load.
The 76ers are 4-0 straight-up and ATS this season, including a win and cover in the season opener when they beat Boston 117-116 at TD Garden. Boston has won two straight, but the new-look Celtics are still trying to gel without Jayson Tatum.

Philly averages the most points per game this season at 129.3, and the Celtics have scored at least 122 in back-to-back contests. Both teams rank in the Top 3 in 3-pointers made, and they’ve combined to hit the Over in six of nine games. I’m expecting a high-scoring contest.
Grimes has scored no fewer than 14 points in each of his last three games, going for at least 20 in two of them. He’s operating as a microwave scorer off the bench for Philly, and I expect him to stay hot at home on Friday.

Josh Minott has started each of the last two games for Boston, and he appears to be the team’s answer at PF. In those two games, he finished with 15/9 and 11/14. There should be plenty of minutes and opportunities available for Minott tonight, especially in a high-scoring matchup at Philly.
