The Indiana Pacers will use the NBA’s hardship exception provision to sign forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl to a 10-day deal, according to reports from ESPN’s Shams Charania. This calculated action is taken at a time when the Pacers are dealing with serious injury issues.
Injury Struggles for the PacersRobinson-Earl is joining a team that is dealing with a number of injuries, including the notable absence of Tyrese Haliburton, the team’s star point guard, who is out after suffering an Achilles injury in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals. Bennedict Mathurin, T.J. McConnell, Andrew Nembhard, and Obi Toppin—the latter of whom is anticipated to miss three months due to a stress fracture in his foot—are also absent for the Pacers.
Robinson-Earl’s NBA JourneyAfter being chosen 32nd overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl has played for the New Orleans Pelicans and the Oklahoma City Thunder for the past four seasons. He played 66 games for the Pelicans last season, averaging 6.3 points and 4.8 rebounds. Robinson-Earl did not earn a position on the Dallas Mavericks’ final roster, despite having participated in both preseason and training camp.
Recent Roster ChangesAfter adding three-time AT&T Slam Dunk champion Mac McClung to their roster on Tuesday, the Pacers have made two roster changes in as many weeks with this signing. The Pacers’ pressing need for depth as they deal with the difficulties of a roster beset by injuries is reflected in these moves.
Despite the setbacks, the Pacers want to strengthen their lineup and play better as the season goes on. We will keep you informed as this scenario develops.
