Boston will get yet another chance to claim tournament glory this evening, this time against Washington.

The Boston Celtics and the Washington Wizards will be playing in NBA’s second annual in-season tournament, the Emirates NBA Cup.

The 18-banner franchise are facing the Wizards tonight inside Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

So far in the tournament, the Celtics have one loss against the Atlanta Hawks and one impressive win against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Wizards have one loss in the tournament, as the Hawks beat them last Friday.

Can the Wizards conjure a win against the Celtics or will Boston reign supreme?

Does the NBA Cup matter

The purpose of the NBA Cup is to encourage teams to chase after more championships, keep fans engage in the sport and drive interest in the earlier portion of the regular season, according to the NBA website.

If an additional title doesn’t matter, then the additional prize money might help. Players of the winning team of the entire Cup will be awarded $500,000 each.

Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla said to Sports Illustrated the cup would feel more important if the tournament games weren’t just put in between all of these regular season games.
