The undefeated Chicago Bulls (5-0) visit the New York Knicks (2-3) tonight at Madison Square Garden in New York City in a rematch of their Friday night bout.

Chicago won that game 135-125 at the United Center, leading most of the way and holding off a late Knicks rally. Josh Giddey and Nikola Vučević led the Bulls with 32 and 26 points, respectively.

Giddey has taken a major leap in his second season with Chicago, averaging 22.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 8.0 assists per game. The Bulls are exceeding expectations, especially with Coby White still sidelined. They’re excelling on both ends of the floor, ranking sixth in scoring (122.8 PPG), three-point percentage (40.2%), and defensive rating (110.3).

The Knicks, meanwhile, have cooled off after winning their first two games, dropping three straight. Their new offense under head coach Mike Brown is still a work in progress.

At times, New York has flashed the pace and ball movement characteristic of a Brown system, but they’ve too often reverted to isolation-heavy sets.

Still, their performance in Friday’s loss showed promise, with four starters — OG Anunoby, Karl-Anthony Towns, Mikal Bridges, and Jalen Brunson — each scoring 22 or more points, while the team shot 49.5% from the field and 40.0% from deep. The focus now shifts to tightening up on defense.

Predictions

Expect a close contest, but the Knicks respond at home with tighter defense to secure the win.

Prediction: Knicks 117, Bulls 113
