Giannis, Rivers and Turner speak on Bucks’ emotional loss to Kings
Giannis Antetokounmpo, Doc Rivers and Myles Turner speak on Bucks’ emotional 135-133 loss to Kings on Nov. 1, 2025
Steve Novak, the Marquette University alumnus and former Milwaukee Bucks player who has appeared on FanDuel Sports Wisconsin broadcasts during Bucks games, will now join MSG Networks coverage of New York Knicks games, working has a studio host and calling games during the season.
Novak will serve as primary backup for legendary ex-player and color commentator Walt Frazier. He replaces Jamal Crawford, who took a more prominent role with NBC national broadcasts.
“I played for nine NBA teams and can honestly say that the two years I played for the Knicks in New York were two of my most memorable seasons in the league,” Novak said in a statement. “To have this opportunity to fill in for the legend Walt ‘Clyde’ Frazier on select games is remarkable, and I can’t wait to talk Knicks basketball with the great hoop fans in New York.”
Novak has worked in pregame and postgame studio coverage for Bucks contests and filled in as color commentator on broadcasts since 2017. He was listed among the announcers expected to work studio appointments for Bucks games again this season, though the sports network has re-imagined its studio operation and eliminated the local studio pregame and postgame show for Bucks broadcasts.
Novak, 42, played the final season of his NBA career in Milwaukee in 2016-17, the last of 11 NBA campaigns, and briefly played for the Bucks the year before. He spent two of his seasons with the Knicks, from 2011 to 2013.
The alumnus of Brown Deer High School was selected by the Houston Rockets in the second round of the 2006 NBA Draft after a decorated career at Marquette. He was a freshman on the team that went to the Final Four in 2003 and scored 17.5 points per game as a senior in 2005-06, shooting 47% from three-point range. He led the NBA in three-point percentage when he shot 47.2% in 2011-12.
