The Milwaukee Bucks (4-2) head to Indianapolis tonight to face the Indiana Pacers (1-5) at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The Bucks have impressed early, notching quality wins over the Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks to start the 2025–26 campaign. However, they’re coming off a narrow 135–133 loss to the Sacramento Kings that highlighted some defensive vulnerabilities.
To be fair, the Kings are a stronger team than their 2–4 record indicates. Domantas Sabonis posted 24 points as he ramps his way up, and the Kings shot 51.7% from the field. Milwaukee’s offense was excellent — hitting nearly 60% from the floor — but 26 team fouls proved costly in a game that became a shootout.
Indiana, meanwhile, picked up its first win of the season on Saturday with a 114–109 victory over the Warriors. Aaron Nesmith led with 31 points, while Pascal Siakam added 27 and Quenton Jackson chipped in 25. The Pacers’ defense was the story, holding Golden State to 43.3% shooting and controlling the paint with a 56–38 scoring edge inside.
Still, sustaining that defensive intensity against a deep and balanced Bucks team, led by Giannis Antetokounmpo, will be a much tougher test. Milwaukee’s offensive efficiency ranks among the league’s top five through six games, and their size advantage should create mismatches inside.
Prediction
Expect Milwaukee to bounce back with a sharper defensive focus, but this game will be closer than many expect.
Prediction: Bucks 119, Pacers 112
