Members of the Washington Wizards, Washington Mystics, Capital Go-Go and District Gaming will join forces with Martha’s Table on Nov. 14 to distribute food, clothing and other goods to residents in Wards 7 and 8.

The annual Thankful Meals Initiative will run from 1 to 4 p.m. at Martha’s Table at The Commons in Southeast Washington, providing essential resources ahead of Thanksgiving.

Giant Food will distribute 500 turkeys and pumpkin pies, along with 750 reusable bags. Monumental Basketball will donate an additional 250 turkeys, while the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation will contribute more than $25,000 in Giant Food gift cards.

Capital One is providing a grant to support the purchase of turkeys and Thanksgiving staples.

Residents can pick up a frozen turkey, pumpkin pie and other food items at no cost while supplies last. They will also have access to Martha’s Table’s lobby market, a food pantry offering fresh produce and nonperishable items.

Winter essentials including gloves, socks and hats, along with personal hygiene kits, will be distributed.

All Wizards players and coaches will attend, joined by select Mystics players.
