The Oklahoma City Thunder will travel on the road to face the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday. It’s the second game of a four-game road trip and the second night of a back-to-back for OKC. This will be the first matchup of the season between the two squads.

The Thunder (8-0) made franchise history in their 126-107 win over the LA Clippers on Tuesday. They have their best start to a regular season ever. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 30 points and 12 assists in three quarters. Isaiah Joe scored 22 points off the bench.

Meanwhile, the Trail Blazers (4-3) dropped a 123-115 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday. Deni Avdija had 33 points, but that wasn’t enough to overcome the short-handed road squad. Deandre Ayton had 29 points in his return as Los Angeles was without LeBron James, Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.

Pretty poor third quarter by both sides. Neither had anything going. The offenses were a mess filled with bad shot attempts and turnovers. Gilgeous-Alexander looks exhausted and has four fouls. This looks like a game where he’ll need to carry OKC to the finish line.

They say basketball is a game of runs and you saw why in that first half. The Thunder had a 22-point lead at one point, but the Trail Blazers got hot from deep to get right back into it. Still, OKC has to play better. That’s one of their worst quarters of the season. Holiday got his team right back into it with outside shots.

Holiday is leading the Trail Blazers right back into this with some hot outside shooting. It’s been a monster second frame for Portland. Meanwhile, Gilgeous-Alexander and the rest can’t get things going.

Dream start for the Thunder. Gilgeous-Alexander has been quiet, but role players like Wiggins and Mitchell have stepped up. They’ve sliced through Portland’s impressive defense. Meanwhile, the Trail Blazers have been quiet. Let’s see if OKC can keep this rolling. Plenty of time still left.

Too easy a dunk for Camara on the defensive breakdown. That forces a timeout. Despite that, you have to like the strong start OKC has had despite being short-handed. Wiggins has stepped up with nine points, all on outside makes.

The Thunder will start Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Ajay Mitchell, Cason Wallace, Aaron Wiggins and Isaiah Hartenstein. The Trail Blazers will start Jrue Holiday, Shaedon Sharpe, Deni Avdija, Toumani Camara and Donovan Clingan.
