Spartans standout Jase Richardson nearly dropped out of the first round in the latest NBA Mock Draft from a popular NBA Draft site.

NBADraft.net released an updated mock draft on Friday, which had Richardson landing in the late first round. The site mocked Richardson to the Brooklyn Nets with the No. 26 overall pick.

Richardson starred for Michigan State in his lone season in college hoops, helping lead the green-and-white to the Big Ten title and Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament. He finished the season averaging 12.1 points per game and shooting better than 40% from 3-point range.

When Richardson declared for the NBA draft, he was projected as a lottery pick. However, he has recently slipped on the draft boards of many mocks. He is now typically landing in the late first round of the many NBA Mock Drafts I’ve came across in the past week.

At this point, Richardson seems set on remaining in the draft despite his recent slip. But, he can still return to Michigan State for another season. He must make that decision by May 28.
