The New Orleans Pelicans (2-6) visit the San Antonio Spurs (6-2) tonight at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.

The Spurs are coming off a 121-110 statement win over the Houston Rockets last night that broke a two-game losing streak — their first of the season.

Victor Wembanyama returned to form, scoring 22 points on 8-for-16 shooting from the field. He was one of three San Antonio starters to score 22 points or more, and one of five players to finish in double figures.

The Pelicans, meanwhile, have won two in a row after an 0-6 start. And they’ve done it without Zion Williamson, who has been out with a strained hamstring. Both wins came against teams missing their lead scorers: the Dallas Mavericks and Charlotte Hornets. So there’s not much to read into the streak — it’s more fluke than momentum.

New Orleans enters with the second-worst offense in the league, averaging 107.9 points per game. Their defense also ranks in the bottom three. Expect them to struggle against the Spurs’ defense — one of the league’s best.

Prediction

The Spurs’ balance, health, and home advantage give them a clear edge. The Pelicans’ absence of Zion and defensive instability make this a difficult matchup.

Prediction: Spurs 131, Pelicans 106
