The Oklahoma City Thunder (9-1) visit the Memphis Grizzlies (4-6) tonight at the FedExForum in Memphis.

Memphis finally broke out of a four-game skid on Friday with a 118–104 win over a struggling Dallas Mavericks team. Ja Morant finished with 21 points, but the efficiency issues that have marked his return from suspension linger — he shot just 35% from the field and still doesn’t look fully in rhythm.

The Grizzlies did, however, get a major lift from first-round pick Cedric Coward, who continues to look like the steal of this year’s draft. He added 21 points and is now averaging 15.0 per game, already reaching 27 once this season.

But tonight, the challenge ramps up significantly. The defending champion Thunder look even stronger to open this season. They rank fourth in the NBA in scoring at 123.2 points per game and have separated themselves defensively — posting the league’s best defensive rating at 104.8.

Their only loss came to the Portland Trail Blazers last Wednesday, and it remains the only time they have allowed more than 108 points in regulation. What makes them so hard to scheme against is not just the star power at the top, but the functional depth throughout the rotation.

Friday night’s blowout of Sacramento was a prime example. Isaiah Hartenstein delivered his best performance of the season with 33 points on 14-for-17 shooting, plus 18 rebounds.

OKC’s identity remains unchanged: pace, spacing, multiple playmakers, and relentless defensive activity. There are very few weaknesses to target.

Prediction

Expect the Thunder to control the pace and lean on their defensive pressure to force Memphis into tough, late-clock shots. If Morant’s efficiency issues continue, the Grizzlies will have trouble keeping up with OKC’s balanced scoring. The Thunder’s depth should separate this one as the game progresses.

Prediction: Thunder 125, Grizzlies 106
