Josh Minott joined the Boston Celtics as a free-agent addition during the summer. He spent the first three years of his NBA career as part of the Minnesota Timberwolves roster, but struggled to earn consistent minutes on Chris Finch’s contending-level team. As such, Brad Stevens took a swing on Minott’s upside by adding him to a retooling rotation in Boston.
Minott has already begun to grab his opportunity in Boston with both hands. He’s started seven of the nine games he’s played in, and is averaging 9.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists per night, shooting 46.9% from the field and 34.4% from deep. Furthermore, Minott’s energy, positional versatility on defense and ability to read the passing lanes have all been major additions to Joe Mazzulla’s rotation.

In a recent appearance on 98’5 The Sports Hub’s “Toucher and Hardy” show, former Celtics champion Cedric Maxwell was full of praise for Minott and the impact he’s made since joining the Celtics. Maxwell broke down the different areas in which Minott is making a difference and why he can be important throughout the rest of the campaign.
