The New Orleans Pelicans (2-7) head to the Phoenix Suns (5-5) tonight at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix

The Suns have won two straight and four of their last five after a rough start to the season. That stretch includes handing the San Antonio Spurs their first loss of the year.

The offense is starting to settle in around Devin Booker, who is carrying the load at 29.3 points per game, while Grayson Allen is off to the best start of his career, averaging 16.3 points per game and providing efficient perimeter shooting.

But Phoenix will once again be without Jalen Green, who exited Saturday’s win over the LA Clippers with a right hamstring injury. Green scored 29 points in his Suns debut last Thursday and showed exactly why Phoenix targeted him in the Kevin Durant trade. He’s an explosive guard who averaged 21 points per game last season in Houston. If healthy, he adds a much-needed dynamic scoring threat alongside Booker.

The Pelicans, meanwhile, are playing their best basketball of what has otherwise been a difficult season, despite still being without Zion Williamson. They’ve won two of their last three, with Trey Murphy III stepping up as the primary scoring option.

Murphy is averaging 23 points over his last four games, including a 41-point performance against the Spurs on Saturday — a notable effort against one of the league’s better rim-protecting defenses led by Victor Wembanyama. The Pelicans have little to lose and are playing freer as a result.

Prediction

The Suns carry the clear edge tonight. With New Orleans undermanned on the road and Phoenix at home and gaining rhythm, expect the Suns to control tempo and pull away.

Prediction: Suns 118, Pelicans 104
