Brooklyn Nets center Day’Ron Sharpe has proven himself to the valuable to the team with the way that he brings energy and rebounding off the bench as the backup to starter Nic Claxton. During Sunday’s 134-98 loss at the New York Knicks, Sharpe suffered what Brooklyn described as left hamstring tightness and he could miss his first game of the season as a result.

The Nets announced on Monday that Sharpe is questionable for Tuesday’s game against the Toronto Raptors with the aforementioned hamstring tightness that had to worry some in the fanbase about his availability. Sharpe played just 12 minutes against the Knicks because of the tightness and after the game, head coach Jordi Fernandez did not have more information to provide on Sharpe’s injury.

“There’s not been any testing, just tightness. So, we’ll do our evaluation and whatever we have to do. So, we’ll see. He played extremely hard,” Fernandez said. “No, I don’t have a camera on myself so it’s hard for me to [explain when Sharpe suffered his injury]. I know that he was fighting and played really hard. So, it’s hopefully nothing. We’ll see what happens.”

As has been the case for the past few games, guard Cam Thomas and forward Haywood Highsmith are out of the lineup as they rehab from their respective injuries. Thomas is dealing with a left hamstring strain that will most likely have him out of the lineup until next month and Highsmith is still recovering from having offseason right knee surgery that could have him returning sometime in December as well.

One interesting aspect of the Nets’ injury report to note is that rookie Nolan Traore will remain on his G League assignment in Long Island while fellow rookies Ben Saraf and Danny Wolf were recalled to Brooklyn. Bringing Saraf and Wolf back to Brooklyn could be the Nets trying to fortify the point guard and center spots with Thomas out of the lineup and Sharpe potentially missing some time with his injury.
