Guard
Stud
Tyrese Maxey, Philadelphia 76ers vs. Boston Celtics ($10,300): It’s close between SGA and Maxey for the top spot, but I lean towards Maxey because he’s averaging an absurd 41.1 minutes per game with a 29.5 usage rate. This game has a spread of 3.5 points and the total is 231.5 despite Boston being 29th in pace. Maxey has put up at least 50 FPTS in all but two games this season with four over 60 FPTS. His floor has been 47.5 FPTS.
Other Options: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ($10,800), Jalen Brunson ($8,900), RJ Barrett ($7,200), Immanuel Quickley ($6,400), Andrew Nembhard ($6,300), Ajay Mitchell ($6,300)
Value
Cedric Coward, Memphis Grizzlies at New York Knicks ($5,800): Coward is an impressive physical specimen at 6-foot-5 and 213 pounds with a 7-foot-2 wingspan, and his play has been just as good so far this season. He’s averaging 14.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.8 treys while shooting 52% from the field, 44% from downtown and 91% from the line. He’s contributed at least 20 FPTS in all but one game this season with four games over 30 and a high of 45.5 FPTS. His low is 19 FPTS.
Other Options: Isaiah Collier ($5,300), Anfernee Simons ($4,500)
Forward
Stud
Karl-Anthony Towns, New York Knicks vs. Memphis Grizzlies ($9,000): It’s been an adjustment period for all the Knicks this season with Mike Brown implementing his systems. Towns has a 26% usage rate, a one percent decrease from the last two seasons. That said, things look to be normalizing somewhat recently, as the usage rate has been 27% over the last two games and Towns has put up at least 50 FPTS in three of the last four games with a high of 62.2 FPTS. The environment should be a good one as Memphis is ninth in pace and 18th in defensive rating.
Other Options: Jaylen Brown ($8,500), Scottie Barnes ($8,400), Brandon Ingram ($7,600), Michael Porter Jr. ($7,400), OG Anunoby ($6,500)
Value
Jordan Walsh, Boston Celtics at Philadelphia 76ers ($3,800): Walsh was a DNP in five of the first six games of the season, but he’s been a significant part of the rotation recently, receiving 23, 19 and 26 minutes over the last three games. He’s finished with 21.8, 12.5 and 24.5 FPTS. Walsh is a low-usage player, so the points won’t be robust, but he grabs rebounds and contributes steals.
Other Options: Cedric Coward ($5,800), Josh Hart ($5,400), Trendon Watford ($4,800), Noah Clowney ($4,600), Jeremiah Robinson-Earl ($4,500), Josh Minott ($4,400), Jay Huff ($4,400)
Center
Stud
Jusuf Nurkic, Utah Jazz vs. Indiana Pacers ($6,100): With Walker Kessler done for the season, it’s been Nurkic who has started at center. In his first start, Nurkic played 22 minutes and finished with 20.8 FPTS. In his most recent start, he only played 19 minutes and put up 17 FPTS, but that’s because the Jazz got blown out by 44 points. In the two other starts, Nurkic played 33 and 31 minutes, putting up 32.8 and 42.2 FPTS. It’s likely that he sees over 30 minutes in this one and the Pacers don’t have the size at center to match the girth of Nurkic.
Other Options: Joel Embiid ($7,600), Isaiah Hartenstein ($6,900), Nic Claxton ($6,400)
Value
Jock Landale, Memphis Grizzlies at New York Knicks ($4,700): The ceiling is limited for Landale and he’s played at least 30 minutes only once this season, but he provides a decent floor. Landale has contributed at least 20 FPTS in all but one game this season.
Other Options: Isaiah Jackson ($5,100), Neemias Queta ($4,800), Jeremiah Robinson-Earl ($4,500), Jay Huff ($4,400)
